Agreement and eligibility
These Terms & Conditions apply when you use binheroes.ca, submit a booking or grouped-route request, or arrange a Bin Heroes service by phone, text, or email. By submitting a booking, you agree to these terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter an agreement, or have a parent or legal guardian make or approve the booking. If you book for a property you do not own, you confirm that you have authority from the owner or occupant to request the service and provide access.
Nothing in these terms removes rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived under Ontario consumer-protection or other applicable law.
The service
Bin Heroes provides one-time cleaning of ordinary household garbage, compost, and recycling bins or boxes in the advertised service area. A typical cleaning includes pressure washing accessible surfaces, scrubbing where needed, deodorizing, and returning the bins to the agreed spot. Biodegradable cleaning products are used.
From May 31 to September 30, while the Region of Waterloo’s Water Conservation By-law is in force, the crew fills buckets from your outdoor tap and runs the pressure washer from those rather than remaining connected to the tap. Wash water is directed onto grass or a garden bed and not onto a driveway or walkway.
Bin Heroes is kid-run and parent-supported. Ruby leads the business, and all proceeds from the cleaning service go directly back to the kid-run business. Your booking is with Bin Heroes rather than with Ruby or any particular crew member.
Depending on the booking, the cleaning may be completed by Ruby, other participating kids, one or more parents working alongside them, or a parent working independently. A parent may assist or complete a cleaning when kid availability changes, demand is high, transportation or safety makes adult help appropriate, or a service area is impractical for Ruby and her kid crew to reach.
The service does not include handling loose household waste, hazardous materials, medical waste, chemicals, hot ashes, needles or other sharps, animal remains, or anything unsafe to pressure wash or handle. We may decline a bin or stop work when a condition is unsafe.
Bookings and requests
Submitting the website form creates a service request, including when you select an available window on Ruby's walking route. A time displayed before submission is not held and may be taken by someone else. After a request is accepted, we will email you a summary of the details you submitted.
The appointment becomes confirmed when the crew approves a date and time and sends you a booking confirmation email. For addresses on grouped routes, we first group nearby requests and will contact you to arrange the timing before sending that confirmation.
A failed form submission, error message, or message caught by a spam filter is not a confirmed booking. If you are unsure, contact us. We may accept, decline, or propose changes to a request based on the service area, route capacity, weather, equipment, and safety.
Ruby and her crew are kids balancing Bin Heroes with school, sports teams, family commitments, and other interests. Their availability can change quickly and may occasionally require us to delay, interrupt, or reschedule a planned booking. If a change is needed, we will make every reasonable effort to give you as much notice as possible, contact you using the details in the booking, and arrange a suitable replacement time.
You are responsible for accurate contact, address, access, and bin information. Please tell us promptly if anything changes.
Prices and payment
Prices are in Canadian dollars and are charged per visit, not as a subscription. The price shown when you book applies to the selected service unless we identify an error or you request different work. Any optional extra charge will be explained and agreed before the extra work is done.
If you're home, payment is preferred when the cleaning is finished. We accept contactless tap by debit or credit card through Square, or e-transfer. Cash is accepted, but card or e-transfer is preferred so Ruby and the crew do not need to carry cash between jobs.
If you're not home, we'll email an invoice with instructions to pay by e-transfer or securely by debit or credit card through Square.Card payments are processed by Square at the property or through Square's hosted invoice checkout. The Bin Heroes website and booking form do not collect payment-card or online banking details, so please do not put them in booking notes or send them by email or text.
When you pay by card, Square automatically creates or updates a Bin Heroes customer record that links payments made with the same card. The Privacy Policy explains what that record holds, what we use it for, and how to ask us to delete it.
If applicable taxes or another required charge apply, they will be disclosed before service.
Changes and cancellations
Use the secure links in your latest booking confirmation email if you need to cancel or request a different window. A reschedule is not final until you select an available window, submit the request, and receive a new crew confirmation. You can also contact us by phone or email if the links do not work or you need help.
Keep booking-management links private because anyone with a current link can submit a change for that booking. Opening a link does not change the booking by itself: cancellation requires an explicit confirmation, and rescheduling requires you to choose and submit a new window. There is no subscription to cancel and no cancellation fee unless a fee is clearly disclosed and agreed before the booking.
Weather, collection delays, illness, route conditions, equipment problems, unsafe access, or another event outside reasonable control may require us to delay or reschedule. We will use the contact details in the booking to let you know and arrange a reasonable alternative.
If we accepted advance payment for a service we cannot provide, we will refund the unperformed service. This does not limit any refund, cancellation, or other right available under applicable law.
Your responsibilities
On the confirmed service day, you agree to:
- leave every selected bin completely empty and in the agreed accessible location;
- remove loose waste, prohibited material, and personal property;
- secure pets and tell us about gates, codes, obstacles, or known hazards;
- provide clear and easy access to a working outdoor water tap the crew can fill from, and that accepts a standard hose connection where a direct hookup is used;
- provide a reasonably safe exterior work area with lawful access; and
- tell us about cracks, loose wheels, damaged lids, or other existing damage.
We do not enter a home. Access is limited to the exterior areas reasonably needed to reach and clean the bins. If bins are not ready or access is unavailable, we may need to skip or reschedule the visit.
Ruby and the kid crew do not empty bins or handle waste left inside them. If waste remains, they are required to refuse cleaning that bin. Safety comes first, and the crew has the right to refuse servicing an entire booking or any specific bin when its contents or another condition could reasonably put them at risk.
Cleaning results and safety
We aim to leave bins visibly cleaner and fresher, but results vary with age, material, staining, damage, residue, and odour absorption. A cleaning is not a guarantee of sterilization, complete stain or odour removal, pest elimination, or restoration to new condition.
Pressure washing can reveal or worsen cracks, peeling labels, loose parts, sun damage, or other pre-existing weakness. We are not responsible for ordinary wear, pre-existing damage, unsafe contents, or loss caused by inaccurate instructions or inaccessible bins.
We may refuse or stop work if a crew member, another person, property, equipment, or the environment could reasonably be put at risk.
Damage or service concerns
We will use reasonable care around bins and property. If you believe something was damaged or the agreed service was not provided, contact us promptly with the booking details and, where helpful, photos. Give us a reasonable opportunity to inspect and address the concern.
To the extent permitted by law, Bin Heroes is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, or for a delay or failure caused by events outside reasonable control. We do not exclude responsibility for deliberate misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury caused by our negligence, or any liability or consumer remedy that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
Website use and communications
You may use the website only for lawful purposes. Do not submit false bookings, probe or disrupt the site, bypass security or rate limits, copy customer or crew data, or use site content in a misleading way.
The website, branding, original copy, and original artwork belong to Bin Heroes or their respective licensors. You may not republish them commercially without permission.
By booking, you agree that we may call, text, or email you about that booking and related service. These are transactional communications, not consent to unrelated marketing. Carrier message or data rates may apply.
Links to maps or other third-party services are provided for convenience. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. Our handling of customer information is described in the Privacy Policy.
Legal details
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without limiting mandatory consumer rights. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be handled by a court or tribunal with jurisdiction in Ontario.
If one part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver. These terms, together with the booking details and any specific written agreement, form the agreement for the service.
We may update these terms for future bookings. The version posted when a booking is submitted applies to that booking unless we both agree otherwise or the law requires a different result.
