On the day we arrange with you, leave your empty bins at the curb or another easy-to-reach spot. We pressure wash each bin inside and out with biodegradable soap, deodorize it, and put it back when we're done. You don't need to be home.

One bin is $10, two bins are $15, and two bins plus your recycling boxes are $20. Prices are per visit inside our service area, with no subscription required.

Ruby's walking route covers Idlewood, Lackner Woods, Stanley Park, Chicopee, and Grand River South in Kitchener — postal codes starting N2A — and she books those on demand. We also take bookings anywhere else in Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge; those get scheduled once a few households in your area are waiting, so the crew can do them in one trip.

No. Leave your empty bins at the curb or the spot we arranged for the scheduled day, and we'll clean them and put them back. If you'd rather be there, just say so when you book.

Yes. From May 31 to September 30 the Region's Water Conservation By-law puts outdoor water use on a schedule set by the last digit of your address, and only between 5:30 and 10 a.m. and 7 and 11 p.m. Cart washing is not one of the activities the by-law lists, but washing a car is, so that is the standard we hold ourselves to. Through those months the crew fills buckets from your outdoor tap and runs the pressure washer off the buckets rather than staying connected, which keeps the wash off the schedule entirely — your house number does not affect when we can come. A whole bin takes 3 to 6 litres, and the wash water goes onto grass or a garden bed rather than down the driveway.

Yes. Ruby started and leads Bin Heroes, set the prices, designed the branding, and chose the cleaning products. She and other kids complete many of the cleanings. A parent may work alongside them—or complete a cleaning independently—when the kids' availability changes, demand is high, or an area is impractical for the kids to service. Whoever arrives, all proceeds go directly back to the kid-run business.

If you're home, payment is preferred when the cleaning is finished. We accept contactless tap by debit or credit card through Square, or e-transfer. Cash is accepted, but card or e-transfer is preferred so Ruby and the crew do not need to carry cash between jobs. If you're not home, we'll email an invoice with instructions to pay by e-transfer or securely by debit or credit card through Square.

Most households book once at the start of summer and again in late August, when green bins are at their worst. Some book monthly through the warm months. It's up to you — there's no contract.
